Summary from Amazon:
Told in letters, posters, blog posts, homework assignments, and more, The Pages Between Us is a totally fun, totally earnest snapshot of middle grade friendship—and what it truly means to be there for someone during the ups, downs, and everything in between.
Piper and Olivia have been best friends since…well, forever. But they're distressed to find that their new middle school schedules aren't giving them enough together-time. Luckily, an idea sparks when Piper finds a cute, sparkly notebook to disguise as her "French Class" homework. It's genius—now the two BFFs can stick together all the time. And document their adventures—you know, for anthropology's sake.
But as the two navigate the tricky new world of sixth grade, they realize that they may need to branch out more than they originally thought. Their notebook, once a life raft, begins to feel like a big responsibility. Can they grow up, without growing apart?
Quick notice: blond-haired girl is Olivia, and glasses, brown hair and scarf is Piper.
Why I liked this book:
- Piper and Olivia made funny jokes, were optimistic and just stated ordinary things that made me laugh. It's one of the hilarious and fun reads.
- The friendship between Piper and Olivia is so strong! They've even planned their double wedding and they've already decided that their grandchildren are going to marry each other. We get to see as they are best friends, but then slowly not spend as time with each other. What will happen?
- What happens in this book is really relatable - we all have fights with friends, we all like boys (Olivia... cough...), etc. You could really feel their feelings.
- All the characters were really likable! Piper and Olivia are very different, but have very happy personalities. We get to meet lots of characters that I really liked!
My only minor complaint is that sometimes I had no idea who was writing who. I sometimes got confused if Olivia was writing, or Piper. But as you get swept into the story, it's not so big a deal!
I give The Pages Between Us a.... (drumroll, please!) (hurry up, I said please, that's the magic word!)
Sorry for the delay. My magical computer orchestra had a problem.
I give it a nine out of ten! We haven't had those in a while, and I love this book.
